About Perm State Ballet School
The educational institution works according an educational program 070302 "Choreographic
art", qualification 52 "Ballet dancer". The license is A š 227621.
Now the pedagogical staff is headed by Lyudmila Dmitrievna Shevchenko, the
director, the deserved teacher of Russian school.
There are 22 teachers of special disciplines working in school. They are:
- N.D.Silvanovich - the honoured teacher of Russia, ārewarded with the Award of Honour, the owner of a prize of a "Ballet" magazine and
the Ministry of culture of Russia "Dance soul";
- L.G.Ulanova - the honoured teacher of Russia,
the honored worker of art of Northern Ossetia - Alania;
- V.Bystritskaja - the honoured teacher of Russia;
- S.I.Gubina - the National actress of Russia, the honoured actress of Karelia, the winner of the State premium of Karelia;
- U.M.Sidorov - the National actor of
Karelia, the winner of the State premium of Karelia, the honoured cultural
worker of Mongolia;
- V.Kamenskaja - the honoured actress of Russia;
- A.G.Sakharov - the honored worker of art
of Northern Ossetia - Alania;
- N.P.Kostareva - the honoured cultural worker of Russia;
- V.I.Akimova - the honoured cultural worker of Russia;
- N.I.Guseva - the honoured actress of Russia;
- N.A.Poleshchuk - the honoured actress of Russia, the winner of the International ballet dancers competitions;
- V.D.Poleshchuk - the honored artist of Russia, the winner of the International competitions of ballet dancers.
V.N.Tolstuhin, the art director of the school, the honored teacher
of school of Russia, āis at head of specialists` team.
L.P.Saharova, the
National actress of the USSR and Russia, the winner of the Glinki State premium, the honored teacher of Russia, the freewoman citizen of Perm and the Perm area is the Honourable art director of the school.
There is a competition of 8-9 persons for a place during entrance examinations at school. At
present pupils from Japan, South Korea, England, Belgium, Denmark, Australia, Tadjikistan study and have ātraining
courses here.
Graduates of the
school āwork at theatres of Moscow, Saint Petersburg, Perm, Ekaterinburg, Chelyabinsk, Krasnoyarsk, Rostov-on-Don, Samara, Saratov, Nizhni Novgorod, Petrozavodsk, etc. Each graduate receives several invitations. Ballet troupe of the
P.I.Chajkovsky Perm Opera and Ballet Theatre consists only of graduates of the
school.
The college has three buildings:
- An educational building,
- An educational theatre (there are a concert hall
with sitting capacity of 300 places āand a huge stage),
- A dormitory for students.
There is a sports hall, a video hall, a dining room, first-aid station.
The school takes foreign students for traineeship for
different terms within the whole āacademic year if they have an initial
choreographic education. During training course Russian language and special
disciplines, such as āclassical dance, āduet and classical
dance, ānational and scenic dance, āhistorical and genre
dance, āmodern choreography, āacting technique, gymnastics, āmake-up
are studied. When the course is finished students receive the certificate of standard
form.
It is necessary to present a Junior school leaving certificate in order to study to get a
diploma. āAcademic year lasts 10 months. Those studying to get the diploma have
to study an expanded range of āsubjects. These are special disciplines: āclassical
dance, āduet and classical dance, ānational and scenic dance,
āhistorical and genre dance, āmodern choreography, āacting technique, gymnastics, āmake-up;
subjects of art criticism course: āhistory of āchoreographic art, āhistory of
theatre, āhistory of fine art, āhistory of world āculture, musical literature;
general educational subjects: Russian language, Russian literature, foreign
literature,ā general history,ā history of Russia, basics of philosophy, basics of
law, basics of economy, sociology, political science, French language.
Foreign students āoccupy a separate floor. There is āa separate room completely furnished for
1-2 persons. There is a hall with TV-set and a videorecorder. There are shower
room, 2 automaticā washing machines, bathrooms, and a washroom.
There is also a kitchen with ā2 refrigerators, a microwave, a cooker. There are
āa medical unit, an isolator, doctors and nurses in the dormitory. Teachers -
tutors work in a boarding school. The dormitory āand the educational building
are situated beside.
All students āare
provided with 4 time āmeal during a day in a dining room of the school.
Students get āthe
right to visit free-of-charge the Perm Opera and Ballet Theatre, the Eugenie
Panfilov theatre of ballet, a circus.
Our school deals
with āāinvitations for getting visas. Meeting and seeing-off in the airport are
āprovided as well.
Students of the school have expanded scenic practice.
Performances of the school that are constantly in repertoire of the Perm Opera Theatre:
- "Ņoppelia" (music of āL.Deliba),
- "Doctor Aibolit " (music ofā I.Morozov),
- "Nutcracker" (music ofā P.I.Chajkovsky).
Students of the school play āin performances of the P.I.Chajkovsky Perm Opera and Ballet
Theatre.
They are operas:
- "Prince Igor" of A.Borodin,
- "Snow Maiden" of N.Rimsky-Korsakov,ā
And ballets:
- "Swan lake " and " the Sleeping beauty " of P.Chajkovsky,
- "Don Kikhot" of L.Minkus,
- "Anyuta" of V.Gavrilin,
- "Sylph" of Levenshold.
Annually the repertoire of the school is replenished with new performances and concert items:
2000. One-act ballet in I.Haydn's music " Choreographic fantasies " (Georgy
Aleksidze's choreography).
2001. "Waltzāfantasy" in āM.I.Glinki`s music (Georgy Aleksidze's choreography).
2002. One-act ballet in A.Copland's music " Spring in the Appalachians "
(E.Panfilov's choreography).
2005. "The Ode for the war ending " in S.Prokofjev's music (Kyrill Shmorgoner's
choreography) and "Cantata" in I.S.Bah's music (Radu Poklitaru`s choreography).
2006. "Waltz" in A.Hachaturyan's music (Kyrill Shmorgoner's choreography), a scene ë Lively
gardenģ from "Corsair" ballet (music ofā A.Adan, R.Drigo, M.Petipa's
choreography).
2006. New edition of L.Deliba`s ballet "Ņoppelia"
(choreographer Boris Ivanovich Myagkov). New edition of
P.I.Chajkovsky`s balletā "Nutcracker" (choreographer Kirill
Aleksandrovich Shmorgoner).
The events
connected to āhistory and today's life of the school always get public response.
In 1998 the school āarranged a significant event connected āto the 100-anniversary of
E.N. Geidendreikh, the founder of the Perm choreographic school,
a memorial board devoted to our first art director appeared on a wall of the school.
The anniversary of L.P. Sakharova,āthe art director of the school, in 2001 became
a big holiday in the city.
In December, 2004 the school celebrated solemnly the 20-anniversary of educational
theatre. The big concert program and the 2nd āact of P.I.Chajkovsky`s
ballet ā"Nutcracker" were presented.
In October, 2005 the school celebrated āthe 60-years anniversary. This holiday gathered
āour friends in Perm. They were guests of honour, graduates of school of
different years, veterans.
In November, 2006 big holiday
concert devoted to anniversary of the honourable art director of college L.P. Sakharova
took place at the Opera and ballet Theatre. āGraduates of Lyudmila Pavlovna took part in it.
Theā team of teachers and students participate āactively in the International contests and festivals.

- March, 2006 - Vadim Muntagirov
(J.M.Sidorov's student), Anna Shcherbakova (N.D.Silvanovich's student) and Vladislav
Shumakov (V.N.Tolstuhin's student) performed successfully at the festival in
Kazan, and Maria Shirinkina (N.D.Silvanovich's student) and Taras Tovstyuk
(V.N.Tolstuhina's student) presented the school with dignity at the ceremony of a "Ballet"
magazine prize "Dance soul" presentingā in nomination
"Teacher" to the teacher of the school Ninel Danilovna Silvanovich.
- April, 2006 - the IX open ballet
dancers contest "Arabesque - 2006": a 1st year student Vadim
Muntagirov (J.M.Sidorova's student) - 2nd āplace, a silver medal,
Elena Kotsyubira (L.P.Saharova's student) - 2nd āplace, a silver
medal, Taras Tovsyuk (V.N.Tolstuhin's student), Michael Martynjuk
(V.J.Alikin's student) and Alexey Ljubimov (A.G.Saharov's student) contest diplomas.
- June, 2006 - āthe "Vaganov-prix"
ballet dancers contest in Saint Petersburg: Vadim Muntagirov - 1st place.
- September, 2006 - the "Fuete of Artek" contest: Maria Tomilova (S.I.Sidorova's student)
and Victor Mulygin (J.M.Sidorov's student) - 3d place.
The tour life of the school is very interesting and fruitful.
In August, 2000 students and teachers of our school took part in the International event
"Communication through culture". The āstaging project of B.Britten operaā
"Noah's Ark" with participation āof young actors from five twin-cities
of Oxford from five countries has been carried out. The great honour to
represent Perm and Russia at this festival has been given to our school. Students
performed āin the opera a ballet fragment "Storm" (choreographer E.Panfilov),
Doves`s parties (A.Pashkov) and Raven`s party (A.Bobylev). Besides they gave
concerts at a retirement home and in streets of Oxford.
In August, 2001 a group of the Irish dance from Oxford visited āPerm with return cultural visit. During
visiting our city visitors from England gave some concerts in which students of
our school took part as well. A ātrip to England made by school students āand
teachers in December, 2001 for Christmas meetings became an kind of
continuation of this cultural dialogue. They had āan extensive concert program including
"Spring in the Appalachians" in A.Copland`s music (E.Panfilov's
choreography), a stage from ballet "Firebird" in I.Stravinsky's music
and a suite from ballet "Nutcracker" in P.I.Chajkovsky's music.
In 2002-2003 academic year a trip to Spain took place. 24 performances "Coppelia"
were given.
In December, 2003 students ātook part in a tour of the P.I.Chajkovsky Perm Opera and
Ballet Theatre to Holland with performance "Swan lake".
In August, 2004 of 14 students of the senior classes participated in performances of
the P.I.Chajkovsky Perm Opera and Ballet Theatre in Germany with performance "Swan lake".
In December, 2005 a tour to Germany with performance "Coppelia" took place.
In December, 2006 German spectators saw Perm staging of "Nutcracker" by
K.A.Shmorgoner's edition. At the same time of 14 students of the senior classes
took part in a tour of the P.I.Chajkovsky Perm Opera and Ballet Theatre to Holland with performance "Swan lake".
The school follows very attentively the successes of the students. Data on them
are beingā gathered and kept in a history museum of the school. For 60 years of
existence of the school it is possible to bring some results.
Over 1300 students
finished the school. Many of our graduates are marked by honorary titles.
- 31 of them became National actors
of the USSR, Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, Karelia, Komi Republic.
- 98 were given titles of honored artists
of Russia, Ukraine, Latvia, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Komi Republic, Bashkortostan, Tatarstan, Kabardino-Balkariya, Mongolia.
- 10 persons got titles of the deserved cultural workers
of Russia, Mongolia and Kyrghyzstan.
- 7 are honored workers of art
of Russia, Ukraine, Northern Ossetia - Alania, Mari Republic.
- 18 graduates becameālaureates of the Glinki State premium, the
State premium of Karelia, the Tugai
premium,ā the French dance academy of dance Nezhinsky premium, the premium of
the Chuvash republic, the premium of republic of Karelia "Onega mask".
- 59 persons won titles of laureates of the International and All-Union contests
and 48 became their students.

For last 10 years S.Teregulov, J.Petuhov, E.Kulagina, V.Dik, E.ShCheglova, A.Galichanin,
T.Predeina were rewarded with title of "National actor of Russia".
O.Shevyrkina, N.Guseva, N.Moiseyev, V.Poleshchuk, J.Mashkina, E.Urjupina, S.Kurakin, N.Guryanov,
V.Davydov, A.Buldakov, T.Predeina, L.Sychev, I.Kabanova, T.Punina, E.Berezina,
E.A.Afanasjeva, O.Shibanova, G.Frolov, S.Belorybkin, S.Pupyrev, R.Siraeva,
V.Baranov, N.Balahnicheva, E.Nebesnaja were rewarded with title of "Honored
artist of Russia".
L.Bobkov, S.Chadov, V.Dubrovin were rewarded with title of "
Honored cultural worker".
R.Urazgildeev was given a title of "Doctor of art criticism sciences ".
